Biography:

 

Hyundong Shin received the B.S. degree in electronics engineering from Kyung Hee University (KHU), Korea, in 1999, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Seoul National University, Korea, in 2001 and 2004, respectively. During his postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2004 to 2006, he was with the Wireless Communication and Network Sciences Laboratory under the supervision of Professor Moe Win.

 

In 2006, he joined the KHU, where he is now a Professor at Department of Electronic Engineering. His research interests include wireless communications and information theory with current emphasis on MIMO communication systems, cooperative communication networks, cognitive radio and networks, network interference, vehicular communication networks, physical-layer security, location-aware radios and networks, molecular communications, and quantum information science.

 

Dr. Shin was honored with the Knowledge Creation Award in the field of Computer Science from Korean Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (2010). He received the IEEE William R. Bennett Prize Paper Award (2012), the IEEE Guglielmo Marconi Prize Paper Award (2008), the IEEE VTC Best Paper Award (2008 Spring), and the IEEE VTS APWCS Best Paper Award (2010). He served as a Technical Program co-chair for the IEEE WCNC (PHY Track 2009), the IEEE Globecom (Communication Theory Symposium 2012, Cognitive Radio and Networks Symposium 2016), and a TPC member for the IEEE ICC (2006, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017), the IEEE Globecom (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016), the IEEE VTC (2009 Fall, 2010 Spring, 2010 Fall, 2011 Spring, 2011 Fall, 2012 Spring, 2013 Spring, 2014 Spring, 2014 Fall, 2015 Spring, 2015 Fall, 2017 Spring), the IEEE PIMRC (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016), the IEEE WCNC (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016), the IEEE WiMob (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016), and the IEEE ICUWB (2006).
